OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

As Northwood, we believe we can lower our environmental impact to save and preserve our planet. Our largest consumption input, engineered wood-let's start there. Northwood has been using FSC certified wood from the very beginning. Since MDF is constructed primarily from wood fiber, many wood savings and other portions of the wood that might normally be discarded can instead be recycled into engineered wood production. This reduces waste and means a higher percentage of trees harvested are used to create valuable products, putting less strain on our forests and a creating sustainable construction practice for years to come, engineered wood panels are the greenset products available in furniture industry. The ECC Sustainability Standard ensures that the production of MDF will remain sustainable and environmentally friendly. Today, plastics and other harmful chemical substances are blended to replicate the engineered wood and solid wood. However, the carbon footprint MDF panels are carbon sinks, storing enough carbon to offset the carbon footprint from their creation. In addition, engineered wood is one of the most plentiful and eco-friendly and sustainable solutions for furniture and home decor applications.
